Khindsi Lake Nagpur: Great Place for Watersports

Khindsi Lake is one of the 11 lakes of Nagpur district. Khindsi lake is located at a distance of about 55 km from the city of Nagpur. The lake is best known for the watersports activities. However it is a great place to enjoy a beautiful sunset also.

Location of Khindsi Lake

Khindsi Lake is located at a distance of around 55 km from the city of Nagpur. The lake is located nearby the city of Ramtek( around 4 km from the city of Ramtek). The city of Ramtek is also famous for the historic temple of Rama and it is believed that Lord Rama rested in the city of Ramtek during his exile.

Origin of Khindsi Lake

Khindsi lake is an artificial lake. The lake was created in 1840 by Maharaja Mudhoji II Bhonsle of Nagpur. The lake was constructed by building a dam across the Khindsi River.

Major Activities to Do in Khindsi Lake

Khindsi Lake is Central India’s biggest boating center and amusement park offering services like:

  1. Pedal Boating
  2. Motor Boating
  3. Rowing Boat
  4. Water Scooter

The prices start from Rs 25 and go upto Rs 300. There are few good restaurants offering food and beverages to the visitors. The place is generally full of activities and during the weekend or long holidays it becomes quite crowded also.

Sunset at Khindsi Lake

One of the unique thing that I particularly enjoyed in Khindsi Lake was the sunset. The views of the sunset are stunning. The cool breeze of the evening gives people much needed relaxation from the hustle and bustle of the city life.

The best thing about the Khindsi lake is that it is located not too far away neither too close to the city of Nagpur which makes it a perfect spot to spend an evening. The place is generally calm and full of natural beauty.
